Ingredients
Scale
2 lbs chicken wings, separated into flats and drumettes
1 tablespoon baking powder (aluminum-free for best results)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon lemon pepper seasoning (store-bought or homemade)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 tablespoon melted butter (optional, for tossing after cooking)
Instructions
Pat the chicken wings very dry using paper towels. This step is key for crispiness.
In a large bowl, toss the dry wings with the baking powder, salt, black pepper, lemon pepper seasoning, garlic powder, and onion powder until evenly coated.
Preheat your air fryer to 380 degrees Fahrenheit (195 degrees Celsius) for 5 minutes.
Arrange the seasoned wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring there is space between each piece for air circulation. Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in batches if necessary.
Air fry for 20 minutes.
After 20 minutes, open the basket and shake the wings well or flip them with tongs.
Increase the temperature to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius) and cook for another 5 to 10 minutes, or until the wings are golden brown and crispy. Total cook time is usually 25 to 30 minutes.
Remove the wings from the air fryer. If you desire extra flavor, immediately toss the hot wings in a bowl with the melted butter.
Serve immediately.
Notes
To prevent sticking, lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray before adding the wings, or use parchment paper designed for air fryers.
For a stronger lemon flavor, you can add 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon zest to the melted butter before tossing the cooked wings.
If you prefer a saucier wing, reserve a small amount of melted butter and mix it with extra lemon pepper seasoning to drizzle over the finished wings.
