Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1-2 teaspoons maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup diced apple (optional, for extra texture)

Instructions

  1. Combine rolled oats, milk, unsweetened applesauce, chia seeds, cinnamon, vanilla extract, maple syrup (if using), and a pinch of salt in a jar or container.
  2. Stir everything together until well combined.
  3. If using diced apple, stir them in now.
  4. Cover the container and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight.
  5. In the morning, give the oats a good stir. Add a splash more milk if they seem too thick.
  6. Enjoy cold!

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use whole milk or a creamy non-dairy milk like oat or cashew milk.
  • Adjust the amount of cinnamon to your preference.
  • If you don’t have applesauce, you can use 1/4 cup of mashed banana or a little extra milk.
  • Feel free to add a tablespoon of chopped nuts like walnuts or pecans for added crunch.
