- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- 4 cups thinly sliced peeled apples (about 2 medium apples)
- 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a medium bowl, combine the flour, 1/4 cup sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Add the rolled oats and chopped pecans to the flour mixture.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- In a separate bowl, toss the sliced apples and cranberries with 1 tablespoon of sugar and the lemon juice.
- Pour the apple and cranberry mixture into an 8×8 inch baking dish.
- Evenly sprinkle the oat topping over the fruit mixture.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbly.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra treat.
- You can adjust the sweetness by adding a little more or less sugar to the fruit filling.
- If using frozen cranberries, do not thaw them before using.
