Make this impressive baked brie appetizer wrapped in puff pastry, topped with fig jam and toasted pecans. It is a simple, gooey cheese dish perfect for holiday entertaining.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 round (8 oz) brie cheese, full wheel
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/4 cup fig jam
  • 1/4 cup pecans, chopped and toasted
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. If using frozen puff pastry, unfold it on a lightly floured surface. Cut the pastry into a square large enough to fully enclose the brie wheel.
  3. Place the brie wheel in the center of the puff pastry square.
  4. Spoon the fig jam over the top surface of the brie wheel. Sprinkle the toasted pecans evenly over the jam.
  5. Fold the edges of the puff pastry up and over the brie, sealing the seams tightly to fully enclose the cheese. Trim any excess pastry. Place the wrapped brie, seam-side down, onto the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Brush the entire surface of the pastry with the beaten egg wash.
  7. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes before drizzling with honey.
  9. Serve immediately with crackers or sliced baguette.

Notes

  • To toast pecans, spread them on a dry skillet over medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring often until fragrant.
  • If you prefer a simpler presentation without pastry, bake the brie unwrapped on parchment paper for 10 to 12 minutes until soft, then top with jam and nuts.
  • Serve with apple slices or sturdy crackers for dipping.
