Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the Glaze:
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a donut pan or line with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the granulated sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the pumpkin puree, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about two-thirds full.
  7. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the donuts cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. While the donuts cool, prepare the glaze. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add more milk if needed to reach desired consistency.
  10. Dip the cooled donuts into the glaze, letting any excess drip off. Place them back on the wire rack to allow the glaze to set.

Notes

  • For extra spice, you can add a pinch of cardamom to the dry ingredients.
  • If you don’t have a donut pan, you can bake these as muffins. Adjust baking time as needed.
  • The glaze can be customized with different extracts like almond or maple.
