Make this easy baked ravioli casserole for a comforting, family-friendly dinner. It tastes like lasagna but requires minimal effort, making it a perfect weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 (25 ounce) packages frozen cheese ravioli
  • 4 cups marinara sauce (or vodka sauce)
  • 12 ounces ground beef, cooked and drained (optional)
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, minced garlic, parsley, and Italian seasoning. Mix these ingredients until they are fully combined.
  3. If you are using ground beef, mix the cooked and drained ground beef into the ricotta mixture now.
  4. Spread about 1 cup of the marinara sauce evenly over the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  5. Arrange half of the frozen ravioli in a single layer over the sauce. Do not thaw the ravioli first.
  6. Spread half of the ricotta cheese mixture evenly over the layer of ravioli.
  7. Sprinkle 1 cup of the mozzarella cheese over the ricotta layer.
  8. Spoon about 1.5 cups of marinara sauce over the mozzarella cheese.
  9. Repeat the layers: remaining ravioli, remaining ricotta mixture, 1 cup of mozzarella cheese, and the remaining marinara sauce.
  10. Top the casserole with the remaining 1 cup of mozzarella cheese and the Parmesan cheese.
  11. Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil.
  12. Bake for 30 minutes.
  13. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 to 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden brown.
  14. Let the baked ravioli rest for 5 to 10 minutes before you cut and serve it.

Notes

  • You can use any flavor of ravioli you like, such as meat or spinach ricotta, for this easy ravioli bake.
  • For a richer flavor, substitute half of the marinara sauce with your favorite meat sauce.
  • This recipe works well as a make ahead Italian dinner; cover and refrigerate for up to 24 hours before baking. Add 10 minutes to the covered baking time if baking straight from the refrigerator.
  • If you want a true lazy lasagna recipe, skip the ground beef for a simpler, cheesy baked pasta experience.
