Bake chicken breasts smothered in a rich, cheesy cream sauce until tender and golden brown. This is a simple, comforting main dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius). Lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Season the chicken breasts on both sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Place the seasoned chicken in the prepared baking dish.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix the softened cream cheese and heavy cream until smooth. Stir in half of the cheddar cheese and half of the Parmesan cheese until combined.
  4. Spoon the cream cheese mixture evenly over the top of each chicken breast, spreading it to cover the surface.
  5. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese and Parmesan cheese over the cream sauce topping.
  6. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese topping is melted and lightly browned.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add 1 teaspoon of dried Italian seasoning to the cream sauce mixture.
  • You can substitute mozzarella cheese for some of the cheddar cheese for a stringier melt.
  • Serve this dish over rice, pasta, or with steamed green beans.
