Make this simple, buttery, and crunchy graham cracker toffee using only five ingredients. This recipe requires no candy thermometer and is perfect for holidays or quick desserts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sleeve (about 9 full sheets) graham crackers
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped pecans, toasted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a rimmed baking sheet (about 15×10 inches) with aluminum foil and place it on the baking sheet.
  2. Arrange the graham crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, covering the bottom completely.
  3. In a medium saucepan, combine the butter and brown sugar. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Boil for exactly 3 minutes without stirring after it starts boiling.
  4. Pour the hot toffee mixture evenly over the graham crackers. Spread quickly to cover all crackers.
  5. Bake for 5 minutes. Remove the pan from the oven.
  6. Immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the hot toffee. Let stand for 5 minutes to soften the chips.
  7. Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the toffee layer. Sprinkle the chopped pecans over the chocolate.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until the toffee is completely firm.
  9. Break the toffee into irregular pieces before serving. Store in an airtight container.

Notes

  • For easier cleanup, spray the aluminum foil lightly with non-stick cooking spray before lining the pan.
  • You can substitute walnuts or almonds for pecans if desired.
  • If you prefer a smoother chocolate topping, you can melt the chocolate chips separately in the microwave or a double boiler before pouring over the toffee.
