Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups fresh peaches, peeled, pitted, and sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar, plus 2 tablespoons for topping
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced peaches with 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Pour the peach mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  3. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together 1 cup flour, 1/4 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the milk and melted butter. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Spoon the cobbler topping evenly over the peach mixture in the baking dish.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining 2 tablespoons of sugar over the topping.
  7. Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the peach filling is bubbly.
  8. Let the cobbler cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For an extra rich flavor, you can add a pinch of cardamom to the peach mixture.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for a delightful treat.
  • If your peaches are not very ripe, you can add an extra tablespoon of sugar to the filling.
