Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Cooked rice, for serving
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Chopped green onions, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease.
  2. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, gochujang, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  4. Pour the sauce mixture over the ground beef in the skillet. Stir well to coat the beef.
  5. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and coats the beef.
  6. Serve the spicy Korean beef mixture over cooked rice.
  7. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of gochujang and red pepper flakes to control the spice level.
  • For a sweeter bowl, add a little more honey.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for the ground beef.
