Make this vibrant, refreshing iced strawberry matcha latte at home in under five minutes. You get beautiful pink and green layers, and this recipe is easily made dairy-free.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup frozen or fresh strawberries
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar or sweetener of choice (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 teaspoons ceremonial grade matcha powder
  • 2 tablespoons hot water (about 175°F)
  • 1 cup milk of choice (oat milk recommended for creaminess)
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the strawberry puree: Combine the strawberries, 1 tablespoon of sugar (if using), and 1 tablespoon of water in a small blender or food processor. Blend until completely smooth.
  2. Pour the strawberry puree into the bottom of a tall glass. Fill the glass about one-third full with ice cubes.
  3. Prepare the matcha: In a small bowl, whisk the matcha powder with 2 tablespoons of hot water until no clumps remain. You want a smooth, vibrant green liquid.
  4. Assemble the layers: Gently pour your milk of choice over the ice, filling the glass about three-quarters full.
  5. Create the aesthetic: Slowly pour the prepared matcha mixture over the back of a spoon held just above the milk layer. This technique helps the matcha float on top of the milk, creating the signature pink and green layers.
  6. Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade, antioxidant-rich beverage.

Notes

  • For the best layering effect, use cold milk and pour the matcha slowly.
  • If you prefer a sweeter drink, increase the sugar in the strawberry layer or add a simple syrup to the matcha layer.
  • To make this recipe vegan or dairy-free, use oat milk or almond milk. Oat milk provides the best creamy texture similar to the café version.
  • You can substitute fresh strawberries with 2 tablespoons of strawberry syrup for an even quicker preparation.
