About Us: Our Story is a Limited Edition
Our life together is a collection of tiny, self-published moments. For a long time, we didn’t realize it. We were moving through our days, doing the responsible things, and our kitchen was just… a kitchen. It was a place for sustenance, not stories.
But we’re both storytellers at heart. And we discovered that the most interesting, hilarious, and heartfelt stories of our day were happening right here, between the cutting board and the stove. We just needed a way to publish them.
Hi, I’m Eva, and I’m 32. The man who brings all the wonderful, creative chaos is my husband, Mateo, who is 34. Welcome to Flavor Zine, our little passion project about capturing life, one recipe at a time.
A “zine,” for those who don’t know, is a small, self-published work of original or appropriated texts and images. It’s not about being perfect or polished. It’s about passion. That’s what our meals became for us. One night, Mateo’s attempt at a new sauce was a hilarious disaster that we saved at the last minute. We realized the story wasn’t the final dish, but the delightful chaos of getting there.
Why “Flavor Zine”?
The name is our entire philosophy. Each recipe we share is an “issue” of our zine. It has a cover story (the main dish), a little feature (a side), and lots of editor’s notes (the tips, tricks, and stories from our experiment).
A Flavor Zine issue isn’t a glossy magazine spread. It’s a little bit messy, deeply personal, and printed with love. It’s a snapshot of a moment, a taste of a memory. It’s our way of saying that the best meals aren’t the ones you replicate perfectly, but the ones you create authentically.
We created this for anyone who wants to stop following instructions and start creating stories. It’s for people who believe the best flavors are the ones seasoned with laughter, and that the most beautiful meals are the ones that are uniquely, imperfectly, yours.
Meet the Publishers
Mateo (34): The Creative Director. He’s the source of all our best, wildest ideas. He’s the one juggling the tomatoes, both literally and figuratively, dreaming up the concepts for every issue.
Eva (32): The Editor-in-Chief. That’s me. I’m the one who captures the stories, refines the chaos, and puts it all down on the page so you can publish a delicious issue of your own.
